Security Aspects in 6lowpan Networks: A Study
نویسنده
چکیده
Internet of Things (IoT) and Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are an important trend in embedded computing which links the physical world to the world of information. Thus it crafts a smart world where all machines intermingle with each other automatically. 6LoWPAN is an IPv6 adaptation layer that labels means to make IP connectivity feasible for firmly resource constrained devices that use low power, lossy communication links such as IEEE 802.15.4. This paper studies 6LoWPAN with regard to its security threats and the counteractions to address these issues.

6LoWPAN Extension for IPsec
Real-world deployments of wireless sensor networks (WSNs) require secure communication. Recently, WSNs and traditional IP networks are more tightly integrated using IPv6 and 6LoWPAN. Available IPv6 protocol stacks can use IPsec to secure data exchange. Thus, it is desirable to extend 6LoWPAN such that IPsec communication with IPv6 nodes is possible. It is beneficial to use IPsec because the exi...
متن کاملCompression of Ipsec Ah and Esp Headers for 6lowpan Networks Draft-raza-6lo-ipsec-04
This document describes the header compression mechanisms for IPsec [RFC4301] based on the encoding scheme standardized in [RFC6282]. The IPsec Authentication Header (AH) and Encapsulated Security Payload (ESP) headers are compressed using Next Header Compression (NHC) defined in [RFC6282]. This document does not invalidate any encoding schemes proposed in 6LoWPAN [RFC6282] but rather complemen...
متن کاملRouting Attacks and Countermeasures in the RPL-Based Internet of Things
*e Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy Networks (RPL) is a novel routing protocol standardized for constrained environments such as 6LoWPAN networks. Providing security in IPv6/RPL connected 6LoWPANs is challenging because the devices are connected to the untrusted Internet and are resource constrained, the communication links are lossy, and the devices use a set of novel IoT technologies ...
متن کاملDenial-of-Service attacks on 6LoWPAN-RPL networks: Threats and an intrusion detection system proposition
RPL (Routing Protocol for Low-power and lossy networks) is a specific routing protocol designed to optimize 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low power Wireless Personal Area Network) operation. As 6LoWPAN suffers from resource constraints on battery, processor, memory and bandwidth, it affects the performance of the RPL protocol. From security point of view, this will make RPL vulnerable to several threats d...
متن کاملLoWMob: Intra-PAN Mobility Support Schemes for 6LoWPAN
Mobility in 6LoWPAN (IPv6 over Low Power Personal Area Networks) is being utilized in realizing many applications where sensor nodes, while moving, sense and transmit the gathered data to a monitoring server. By employing IEEE802.15.4 as a baseline for the link layer technology, 6LoWPAN implies low data rate and low power consumption with periodic sleep and wakeups for sensor nodes, without req...
